Users can now make Voice Calls between Microsoft OCS and Google Apps

NextPlane now delivers voice federation

Mountain View, California November 1, 2010 – NextPlane, a leading provider of enterprise class federation solutions for unified communication platforms, today announces that both the NextPlane Federation Server and NextPlane Federation Cloud service support voice calls between Microsoft OCS and Google Apps.

“We already use NextPlane to federate Microsoft OCS and Google Apps for IM, presence and domain sharing between our faculty and students,” says Daniel A Nanto, Director Infrastructure Development & Identity Services at Vanderbilt University. “With budgets as tight as they are, we are really looking forward to taking advantage of the savings that will be enabled by federated UC voice calling.”

“Companies can save on their telecommunication charges by using their UC systems for voice communications across federated domains, “says Farzin Shahidi, CEO of NextPlane. “Until now it was only possible for companies to take advantage of inter-domain voice calls if their partners, customers, or supplier were also on Microsoft OCS, but now with NextPlane federation, users on Microsoft OCS can call users on Google Apps and vice versa.”

NextPlane enables hi-fidelity federation across different UC platforms so that users can exchange presence, send instant messages, participate on multi-user chat sessions, or make HD quality voice calls as if they are on the same platform.

NextPlane Federation

NextPlane Federation addresses the growing need for enterprise class federation across Microsoft OCS 2007 R2, OCS 2007 & LCS 2005, IBM Sametime, Cisco WebEx Connect, Cisco Unified Presence Server 8.0, Jive OpenFire, Google Apps and Google Talk. NextPlane extends presence-aware collaboration and communication beyond what unified communication (UC) platforms permit by offering unique capabilities as such presence, multi-party federation chat, voice calls, domain sharing, and coexistence of multiple UC environments.

Available as either an on-premises server-based solution or as a cloud-based service, NextPlane solutions deliver UC agnostic federation across all modes of communications including instant messaging, multi-user chat, persistent chat rooms, Web conferencing, and voice communications.
